The class begins at 9:30 a.m. in La Olla restaurant with a general overview of what will happen during the 4½ hour class. In the market, we start by finding ingredients that are on our shopping list and identifying other ingredients representative of the region. After the market, we go to Pilar’s house by car where we hand out aprons and recipes and review the ingredients we will use to prepare the dishes for the class.
In the class, we prepare about 5 dishes, depending on the imagination of the Chef. At the end, we offer a mezcal tasting before we sit around Pilar’s dining table and enjoy the dishes we prepared, ending the class about 2:00 p.m.
Cooking classes are generally offered Wednesdays and Fridays by reservation. They are given in English and/or in Spanish and are totally participative, the best way to learn. There is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 persons in a class.
Also we offer classes for chefs, restauranteurs, culinary students and groups celebrating birthdays, weddings or anniversaries. We offer private classes by reservation.
For the description of the different menus, see the Cooking Class Menu.
